Chuck Brown who's unique musical style — consisting of funk, soul and Latin party sounds — led to the creation of "go-go" music in Washington, D.C., has died after suffering from pneumonia. He was 75.
The legendary musician died Wednesday at Baltimore's Johns Hopkins University Hospital, after checking into the facility on April 18.
Fans loved his deep, gravelly voice, and continued to watch him perform in clubs in recent years.
Washginton D.C. mayor Vincent Gray said "Go-go is D.C.'s very own unique contribution to the world of pop music," he said. "Today is a very sad day for music lovers the world over."
