By CHEVEL JOHNSON and STACEY PLAISANCE AP NEW ORLEANS -- Music fans poured through the gates at Friday's start of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, staking out spots to catch performances by The Beach Boys, Steel Pulse and Irma Thomas,

The Electrifying Crown Seekers gave a mighty shout-out in the Gospel Tent to help launch New Orleans Jazz Fest 2012.

When the rousing 13-piece band broke into a syncopated 'Closer Walk With Thee,' the audience was hooked.

Here we are at JazzFest time once again and the city is full of tourists in Hawaiian shirts and unusual headgear. It's also the one time of the year many locals tend to look and act like tourists because they can get away with it.
